ANDREW SMITH - Started rallying as most people in Rallying, by marshalling on local events and the R.A.C rally where he ended up as a Control Officer! Andy then joined up with the very successful Team Eryk of Bob Morley/Geoff Moss as part of the service crew on Local and BTRDA events. Also serviced on WRC and European Tarmac events for various crews.
Started competing as a driver in October 1985, gave that up in early 1990’s – enjoyed 2 Ford Escorts, 1 Toyota Corolla and suffered a Mazda 323 Turbo 4x4. He also had a TR8, but didn’t fit.
He became the Dukeries Motor Club Chairman in 1992 after being on the Committee for a few years. Assisted with organisation of Dukeries Rally, became Clerk of the Course of the Premier Rally in 1993 until 2000. During this time serviced for Paul Blackburn on BRC and Irish Tarmac events.
Started competing again as a co-driver with Andrew Davies in a Vauxhall Nova on local events. Graduated to a Mitsubishi Evo 4 and then an Evo 7, and tackled BTRDA in 2004 but fulfilled ambition by taking part in Wales Rally GB and finishing. Squeezed into Ashley Fields Darrian on the Jim Clark rally also in 2004 and won the Wolds Rally outright, my first and only win although I came second in 1990 co-driving for Bob in BDG Escort. Co-driven on the challenging Tour of Mull Rally 4 times finishing it 3 times, twice with Andrew Davies and once with John Stevens. Landed on the beach of a sea Loch when partnering Andy Blower.
In 2009 Andy has competed on three events in the Dukeries Motor Club Championship and managed to claim first in class two driver.
JOHN STEVENS - started out in rallying as a marshal in 1996. Then at the same time John started building his 1st rally car, a mark 2 Ford Escort. This was a 1600 with a basic clubman spec. It wasn’t all plain sailing as the car had to be re-shelled after it was rolled during “testing” in a field. The car was rallied between 1999 and 2004.
In 2005 John decided to build a clubman spec Peugeot 205 Gti 1.6. This was due to John wanting to see if front wheel drive was faster. He rallied this car until the end of 2007, with a couple of good results.
In late 2007, he started on his latest car, another Escort Mk2, but built better with a 2.0 16v Vauxhall engine, clubman group 4 specification.
This car has bought John several good results in 2009, (all of them with Pete as co-driver), including 1st in class on the Bill Cammack Rally at Manby, 2nd in class at the Phoenix Rally at Fulbeck, 3rd in class on the RalliTrak Premier Rally and 1st overall driver in the Dukeries Motor Club Rally Championship and in the East Midlands Championship.
RALPH COOKE- Has a motorsport background. He first got involved in Go-Karting whilst in the Forces.
Setting up several go karts and a kart circuit whilst stationed at one base. He then moved into stock car racing, were he became heavily involved. This spanned from helping other drivers, to marshalling right up to building his own car and competing.
Ralph now helps Pete and Liam by regularly servicing on events for them. He has also helped out Andy and John
by servicing and being a chase car on their events.
